The Feminist History of Fashion in Dimona
On August 14, Project Kesher’s women’s group in Dimona gathered for a rich and inspiring conversation on “The Feminist History of Fashion, Comfort, and Return to Oneself.” The session, led by stylist and lecturer Liya Leiderman, explored how clothing has shaped women’s roles in society—both as a tool of restriction and as a path to liberation.
Together, participants reflected on the long history of women being “dressed by others,” and the empowering shift to choosing for themselves. From corsets to pantsuits, from restrictive trends to the quiet revolution of comfortable, body-positive clothing, the group discussed how fashion can become a form of self-expression and inner freedom.
Liya also shared practical advice for finding personal style without submitting to the dictates of trends, encouraging women to see clothing as an extension of their own strength and individuality.
