Empowered Through Financial Literacy: A Project Kesher Israel Testimonial
After making aliyah from Russia with her husband, Jenya—a 37-year-old woman living in Ramat Gan, Israel—found herself overwhelmed by Israel's unfamiliar banking system and financial processes. With little knowledge of managing budgets and credit cards, she was terrified of losing control over her finances and independence.
Upon her sister's recommendation, Jenya enrolled in Project Kesher Israel’s free financial literacy program. After only six meetings, Jenya had the confidence to not only make financial decisions for herself, but provide assistance to friends and family.
Jenya expressed: “I always hated budgets, numbers, all the stress around it. I relied on my husband that he’d take care of it all. And all of a sudden, life has changed. We were afraid of losing control over everything. Now, I take care of our family budget. I am aware of our financial situation. I managed to speak with my director about my pension plan. Project Kesher Israel, you saved my life!”
