Project Kesher Concludes a Successful US Tour
Project Kesher recently concluded a national tour spanning six US cities over almost the entire month of May. Meetings in New York, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco allowed our team to communicate Project Kesher’s mission and impact to key stakeholders and potential donors. We’re grateful to the committed Project Kesher supporters who helped make strategic introductions. For example, Lesley Weiss, Deputy Director at the National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry (NCSEJ) set up meetings with groups like Razom, the Helsinki Commission and the Ukrainian Embassy, laying the groundwork for future, exciting collaborations. Additionally, we met with Amelia Glaser, Professor and Endowed Chair in Judaic Studies at UC San Diego, who expressed interest in teaching at a future Project Kesher retreat.
Even while on the road, the team continued to raise crucial funds, securing $180 thousand in grants from UJA-Federation of New York and $25 thousand from Propel, the only San Francisco-based philanthropic fund focused exclusively on women and girls in the Jewish community locally and in Israel. Those funds—along with the $600 thousand raised as part of our 2024 benefit—will make a tangible difference in the lives of women and girls in Ukraine and Israel, and help foster more equitable, inclusive civil societies.
