Visiting the “Heroines” Exhibition in Bat Yam

On January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Bat Yam LGBTQ+ group organized a collective visit to “Heroines” at the Holon Design Museum, bringing together participants from across central Israel. The exhibition centers on women’s experiences during the Holocaust, highlighting how clothing and self-expression became acts of dignity, resilience, and inner resistance amid unimaginable conditions.

Original garments and personal testimonies revealed how women preserved identity and agency—sometimes through the smallest gestures—despite life in ghettos and wartime persecution. The visit concluded with a powerful group discussion, where participants shared family memories and reflections, underscoring the importance of Holocaust remembrance through a gender-aware and LGBTQ+ perspective, and the role of culture in sustaining resilience and community.
