PKI LGBTQ Rights & History Session in Bat Yam

Last week, Project Kesher Israel’s LGBTQ group in Bat Yam welcomed renowned activist and educator Guy Frankovich for a powerful session tracing 50 years of the LGBTQ rights movement in Israel.

Together, participants explored the community’s hard-fought legal battles, the complex intersections of LGBTQ and Jewish identity, and the evolving role of religion and state in shaping rights and recognition.

For many in the group—new immigrants from countries where LGBTQ rights are still denied—this was more than a history lesson. It was an introduction to a legacy of resilience, activism, and possibility in their new home. Step by step, they are connecting to the broader struggle and spirit of progress in Israeli society.
