11 Laptops, One Future: Empowering Young Women in Ukraine

Through the Women’s Opportunity Fund, 11 young women from across Ukraine—many of whom have lost homes, loved ones, and stability to the war—are gaining access to the tools they need to build their futures. Each received a laptop, enrollment in a high-quality artificial intelligence training program, mentorship, and the support of a peer-learning community.

The Stay Online project is designed to close the digital divide for young women in Ukraine. Having access to technology means access to education, career opportunities, global communication, and the chance to shape one’s own future.

The students—who are pursuing degrees in fields ranging from aviation and engineering to biology and economics—are already engaged in a six-module online AI course hosted by the Netpeak Group. With guidance from mentor Dr. Vasyl Oryshchuk, an AI and digital skills expert, they are learning everything from the basics of AI to creating agents and assistants.

As participant Liudmyla Chabanova shared, “My research focuses on endangered lichens, and I believe that combining biological knowledge with AI will allow me to contribute to science, biodiversity conservation, and environmental education in Ukraine.”

For these young women, mastering AI is not only about skills—it’s a pathway to self-realization, resilience, and hope for a dignified future.
