PKI Stands with LGBTQ Leaders at Jerusalem Pride Parade
Marking its first time serving on the event organizing committee, Project Kesher Israel (PKI) proudly participated in the annual Jerusalem Pride Parade on June 5. Coordinators and members from PKI LGBTQ groups across the country came together to march, show their support and hand out PKI materials. PKI was thrilled to welcome former US board member Janice Rous to the festivities.
This year’s Pride celebration held special significance as it commemorated the 10th anniversary of the murder of Shira Banki, a 15-year-old girl who lost her life at this very parade. In her memory, leaders across Jewish denominations united in a call to end homophobia and to open their communities to LGBTQ individuals, making them feel respected and welcome.
