The Great Jewish Weekend Continues its Tour of Ukraine

The Great Jewish Weekend, organized by Project Kesher Ukraine, recently made its fourth stop in Khmelnytskyi, following successful events in Lviv, Vinnytsia and Kyiv. Held at the Khmelnytskyi Hesed Besht Charity Foundation and the Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum, it introduced local residents to the rich history, traditions and culture of Ukrainian Jews.

The event featured expert presentations on diverse topics, including Jewish literature, traditional cuisine and Jewish-Ukrainian dance and music. Saturday culminated with the musical “Jewish Courtyard,” evoking the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional Jewish neighborhood, and a virtual tour of the Jewish City of Proskuriv, which took participants on a historical journey through Khmelnytskyi’s Jewish past.

The weekend concluded with a special Rosh Hashanah ritual, performed by Rabbi Yosef Teitelbaum, filling the air with the sound of the shofar.
