Bat Mitzvah Ceremony Unites Generations in Israel
On September 13, Project Kesher Israel (PKI) held its third group Bat Mitzvah ceremony, honoring 10 individuals—mother-daughter pairs encompassing both new immigrants and longtime Israeli residents—who recently completed PKI’s Bat Mitzvah preparatory course.
The ceremony took place at the KAMATZ congregation in Mevasseret Zion and was led by Rabbi Debbi Shouah Haim. More than 70 guests were in attendance and witnessed the right of passage, as individuals completed their first aliyahs and Torah readings, standing before a beautiful open ark.
PKI’s four-month Bat Mitzvah preparatory course provides weekly immersions in Hebrew chanting and Torah story, and explores the Jewish life cycle and Jewish blessings.
