Urgent Update from Vlada: Rising Threats in the Donetsk Region

The situation in the Donetsk region has taken a dire turn. Our partners in the Project Kesher Ukraine (PKU) network, including the Toretsk municipal hospital, are facing severe threats as the conflict intensifies. Just last August, we provided the hospital with eight electric bikes to support their medical care efforts. Now, with Toretsk almost under complete occupation and relentless Russian artillery shelling the city, the hospital and its staff are in grave danger. Marina, the hospital's chief physician, shared with us the heartbreaking reality: the city has been devastated, and evacuation is nearly impossible—both for the residents and the equipment. While some staff members have managed to reach safety in Dnipro, others remain in the crossfire.

The situation is equally alarming in the Novohrodivka community, over 100 kilometers from Donetsk. Once considered a safe zone, it is now under threat as the frontline rapidly advances. The town is experiencing artillery attacks, prompting an urgent large-scale evacuation. Yulia, the assistant director of the hospital, is doing everything possible to evacuate personnel and equipment, but with the situation changing by the minute, the outcome remains uncertain. Two e-bikes have been relocated to serve a village in Dnipro region.

Please keep the brave medical teams and their communities in your thoughts as they navigate these perilous circumstances.
