Project Kesher Shares its Ukrainian language Haggadah with Congress
Last week Project Kesher mailed 50 physical copies of its Ukrainian language haggadah to select U.S. Congressional representatives to better educate them about the strong cultural connections between Ukraine and the Jewish tradition. The initiative was recommended by the U.S. Ukrainian Embassy, which remains vigilant in the wake of Russian accusations of antisemitism in Ukraine.
Launched in 2023, the haggadah celebrates the rich history of Ukrainian Jews, reclaiming their cultural identity in the wake of Russian aggression as it tells the Passover story. The work embodies the collective efforts of Jewish community leaders from Ukraine, Israel and the U.S., spanning all branches of Judaism, under the expert guidance of Noam Zion, a renowned creator of haggadot.
Since it was first made available online, the haggadah has been downloaded more than 3,000 times. In 2024, it was also published in hard copy, marking a significant milestone in preserving and honoring Ukrainian Jewish heritage.
An additional round of haggadot will be mailed to all of the leading haggadah repositories in the U.S., including the University of Chicago, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.
