More E-Bikes Expand Care Access in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv

Project Kesher Ukraine's Women's Opportunity Fund (WOF-UA) has continued its "Bike-Boost" initiative, providing 15 additional e-bikes for Ukrainian nurses through the support of the Jewish Federations of North America

WOF-UA delivered 12 of these vehicles to a clinic in Kharkiv, a region highly impacted by the war due to its proximity to the Russia border. Here, bus service is often suspended because of ongoing attacks, making it challenging for the population to travel for healthcare. The e-bikes will allow local nurses to make more home visits, adding up to 10 additional patients per route per day.

WOF-UA also directed three e-bikes to the primary health care center in Mykolaiv, which oversees nine outpatient clinics and six health posts, serving more than 36,000 residents. The largest of these clinics has seen home visits increase from 12 to 30-35 per week.

To date, Project Kesher Ukraine has delivered more than 150 e-bikes, significantly broadening access to care across the country while easing the burden on nurses traveling to see patients. An additional 50 bikes are on order.
