Bike-Boost Project Improves Healthcare Access in Kramatorsk, Ukraine

Project Kesher’s Women’s Opportunity Fund (WOF-UA), in collaboration with Kramatorsk Primary Health Care Center, has introduced the 'Bike-Boost' project in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk. This initiative has provided 15 electric bicycles or e-bikes to local nurses and paramedics, helping them serve hard-to-reach areas while reducing their response times, saving fuel costs and mitigating environmental impact.

These vehicles are especially valuable in Kramatorsk, which sits at the edge of a combat zone and is home to a medical center that serves as a lifeline for residents across a vast area. The city currently suffers from a lack of resources due to limited funding as well as fuel shortages, which present a challenge for paramedics who—without vehicles like e-bikes—have struggled to quickly reach patients in crisis.
