Project Kesher Ukraine Donates Hospital Equipment to Help Newborns in Dnipro

Project Kesher Ukraine’s Women’s Opportunity Fund has brought renewed hope to new parents in Dnipro, and their babies, donating to the city’s maternity hospital key equipment that will allow healthcare workers to diagnose medical conditions among newborns.

Specifically, the Fund purchased a laboratory centrifuge and starter kit of reagents for rapid blood group determination—equipment that makes it possible to conduct the life-saving Coombs test, used to diagnose blood-related conditions, such as hemolytic anemia, one of the most common causes of jaundice.

Last year, more than 35% of the babies born at the maternity hospital in Dnipro were diagnosed with jaundice—demonstrating the dire need for this life saving equipment. The donation best ensures the newborns arriving receive medical care of the highest quality.
