It’s Curtain Up for PKI’s Ulpan for Actors
Only two months after the launch of Project Kesher Israel's Hebrew language ulpan for actors, the participants—all immigrants from Russia and Ukraine—have taken the stage at the Gesher Theater in Tel Aviv. Demonstrating their newly acquired Hebrew skills, they are now starring in theatrical productions for Israeli children and youth.
The ulpan has been a lifeline for Russian-speaking actors in Israel, who are highly active in the country’s cultural scene but often lack the language skills and confidence to resume acting. Project Kesher Israel’s Hebrew instruction has empowered them to again embrace their passion for performance, while providing opportunities to practice their newly acquired language skills, inspiring other immigrants to seek creative outlets in Israeli society, and enhancing the diversity of the theatrical community.
