A Special Installation Timed With “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”
On November 25, Project Kesher launched an installation called “Invisible,” tied to the international campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.” It was presented first in Kryvyi Rih and will travel to four additional Ukrainian cities in the regions of Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Uzhhorod and Poltava.
The centerpiece of the installation is a thematic mirror in which you cannot see your usual reflection. This visual element symbolizes the societal invisibility of those experiencing violence—individuals who often remain silent due to stigma, shame or dependence on their abuser, left alone with their pain and fear. Alongside the mirror, an information stand provides details on the piece and resources for those who experience and witness violence.
It is Project Kesher’s hope that this installation creates a space for personal reflection, societal solidarity, sisterhood and meaningful dialogue around the issue of gender-based violence, encouraging everyone to consider their role in driving changes. This is especially important given that Ukraine is experiencing rising domestic violence, with criminal cases rising 55% between January 2023 and January 2024.
