Meet Valeriya Ohorodnyk, COO of Project Kesher Ukraine

Though recently appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Project Kesher Ukraine, Valeriya Ohorodnyk’s journey with the organization began 13 years ago, when she firstly participated in the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign. That event became a powerful source of inspiration, showcasing how women can unite to drive meaningful social changes.

Valeriya’s deep connection to the Jewish community and culture has significantly shaped her path to Project Kesher. As the descendent of Holocaust victims and survivors, she has a profound desire to preserve their memory and pass their stories on to future generations. This passion has driven Valeriya’s active participation in projects and initiatives aimed at preserving traditions and strengthening Jewish identity.

Valeriya shares: “My family is the inspiration and support for me. I grew up in a family that valued traditions, teaching me the importance of unity and mutual aid. My parents have set the best example of how crucial it is to support each other. Their wisdom and experience shaped my life principles. Later, my husband joined this circle of support, and together, we are raising two wonderful daughters.”

An important aspect of Valeriya’s life is teaching at Uzhhorod National University as an associate professor in the Department of Finance and Banking. This role not only enriches her with academic knowledge but also hones her leadership skills, which she brings to the like-minded and supportive women of Project Kesher.
