Attack on Israel Disrupts Pre-Rosh Hashanah Call
As Project Kesher Israel (PKI) was set to hold its much anticipated pre-Rosh Hashanah gathering over Zoom, sirens sounded across the country, indicating another missile attack for which Iran claimed responsibility. In response, PKI coordinators and activists quickly sought shelter with their families and—phones in hand—began checking on one another’s safety. Despite weak signals and slow connections, messages gradually came through, bringing relief when all team members responded.
Amid six waves of explosions overhead, the team remained in touch with both one another and local groups to provide comfort and support, even sharing lighthearted jokes to ease the tension. As the time for PKI’s scheduled Zoom call approached, they stayed in shelters—holding their children with one hand and messaging with the other—determined to maintain their connection despite the circumstances. Once the all-clear was given nearly an hour later, the team and their families returned home and logged in to wish each other Shana Tova.
