New Collaboration between Project Kesher Israel and Clalit Health Services
Project Kesher Israel has begun a promising collaboration with Clalit Health Services, the largest of Israel's four state-mandated health service organizations. PKI's CEO, Rabbi Olya Weinstein, met with Etti Rosenberg, the Head of Innovation and Development at Clalit, along with her medical executive team from the Tel Aviv region, to explore ways of improving access to healthcare for LGBTQ immigrants and refugees from Ukraine and Russia. The partnership aims to connect these new olim with medical services provided by specialists trained to address the unique needs of the LGBTQ community.
According to research conducted by PKI’s Assia Istoshina, many LGBTQ olim face significant challenges as they adjust to life in Israel, particularly when it comes to accessing open and professional medical care and understanding their healthcare rights. This collaboration will help thousands of Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking immigrants, many of whom have fled homophobia in their home countries, receive the medical care they deserve.
Special thanks to Project Kesher Board Chair Barbara Glickstein for facilitating this important partnership.
