Stories of Resilience in Haifa

On Thursday, the PKI LGBTQ group of Haifa, in collaboration with the House of Communities, hosted a moving gathering centered on the documentary “Before We Move.” The film follows Otar and Misha—professional queer tango dancers—through their lives in Russia and their immigration journey to Israel.

Meeting the couple in person made the evening especially powerful. “It gave participants the opportunity to witness that dreams may come true despite immigration and hardships,” organizers shared.

The program also continued PKI’s ongoing conversations about recent waves of aliyah, and the personal and professional paths of immigrants and refugees. Together, participants found strength and inspiration in stories of resilience and creativity.
