Project Kesher Ukraine Celebrates Dnipro’s Day of Interethnic Harmony

Last week, Project Kesher Ukraine (PKU) helped celebrate the inaugural Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity, following its establishment in 2024 to promote unity, tolerance and respect for diverse cultures across the country. The organization joined 15 diasporas in Dnipro for a vibrant showcase of traditional clothing, crafts and national cuisines, from Georgian khachapuri to Tyrolean specialties.

PKU’s Jewish heritage corner featured a poignant mini exhibition of Holocaust and community artifacts from the Museum “Memory of the Jewish People and the Holocaust in Ukraine,” along with a musical performance. Additionally, PKU leaders Olena Kolpakova and Ella Honcharova conducted a hands-on workshop in collaboration with the National Center of Sofrut. They introduced the audience to the organization’s work and led an interactive session where participants tried their hand at reyzele, the traditional art of Jewish paper cutting.

The event reflected Ukrainians’ desire to stand together—regardless of ethnic background—to rebuild their country.
