WOF-UA Funding Supports “Grandmother’s Cottage” in Ukraine

Thanks to the Women’s Opportunity Fund of Ukraine (WOF-UA), Hanna Sukhobrus has expanded her vision for “Grandmother’s Cottage,” a physical space offering visitors a sense of warmth, nostalgia and soul-soothing rest.

While the idea for “Grandmother’s Cottage” began as blog, Hanna has brought it to life through the restoration of a charming 19th-century cottage in a village near Kaniv, Ukraine. Through painstaking, loving renovations, Hanna saved the structure from decay and preserved much of its original character. WOF-UA funding allowed her to purchase and install a representation of modernity, a hot tub, and begin completion of a sauna to further help her guests engage in needed self-care.

“Participating in the grant program of the Women’s Opportunity Fund was significant—it was about feeling and understanding that our project is believed in,” Hanna shared. She envisions the space as replicating the warmth and comfort of visiting one’s grandmother’s house, a much-needed emotionally positive experience amidst the ongoing war.
