Providing a Safe Space for LGBTQ Refugees

The PKI Tel Aviv LGBTQ group recently hosted an enriching discussion that highlighted the journeys of its members who fled the war in Ukraine or escaped the homophobic regime in Russia. Led by esteemed researcher and facilitator Assia Istoshina, the conversation provided a safe environment for participants to share their experiences and give voice to their hopes and fears. Participants shared the group’s essential need for continued emotional support, professional growth opportunities, education about their rights in Israel and resources to better adapt to their new lives.

PKI is honored to be the only organization in Israel dedicated to supporting Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking LGBTQ olim. We are committed to providing the vital assistance and recognition that these courageous individuals truly deserve as they embark on this new chapter of their lives.
