PKI Spearheads Israel’s First LGBTQ History Archive

On December 11, the Israeli LGBTQ History Archive officially opened at Tel Aviv University, marking 50 years of the Israeli LGBTQ movement. The archive, a joint project with The Aguda, houses letters, photos, documents, and media spanning five decades, capturing the social, cultural, and political history of Israel’s LGBTQ community.

PKI’s Head of LGBTQ Program, Anna Talisman, attended the opening to explore collaboration and ensure that the stories of Russian-speaking LGBTQ immigrants—many navigating war, displacement, and identity challenges—are preserved. As a community documenting thousands of personal journeys, PKI sees itself as a living archive, and this partnership ensures these experiences become part of Israel’s historical record.
