Promoting Computer Literacy Among Ukrainian Mothers of Large Families
At the end of January, Project Kesher Ukraine launched the second round of its ‘Stay Online’ project, which aims to increase the level of computer literacy of Ukrainian mothers who have large families. As with the first round, the number of requests exceeded WOF-UA’s capacity, with more than 2,800 applications from all over Ukraine and only ten spots to fill.
As of autumn 2023, the first ten winners of WOF-UA’s pilot project have already received the computers and a special training course. One of these winners is Alyona, a 39-year-old teacher raising four children, who says, “The ‘Stay Online’ project is my chance to enrich my knowledge, grow professionally, and contribute to the economic development of Ukraine. It is the aim of my life to be a highly qualified teacher in order to educate worthy young Ukrainians! Next academic year, I will start my favorite activity – teaching the children. I also hope to try earning money online, so that I will be a financial support for my family in the future.”
Greater computer literacy for these grantees means more independence, opportunity and self-determination – attributes that will prove essential to women playing key roles in the future of Ukraine.
