Empowering Ukrainian Midwives on the International Stage

Thanks to a travel grant from Project Kesher Ukraine’s Women’s Opportunity Fund (WOF-UA), Dr. Olha Honcharenko of the Association of Midwives of Ukraine represented her country in Berlin earlier this month at the ICM Regional Conference Midwives360: Associations for a Changing World. This three-day event brought together midwifery leaders from across Europe to focus on organizational growth, capacity building and professional development.

As a leader in a women-led organization dedicated to sexual and reproductive health, Olha gained critical insights into management strategies and international collaboration. "Participating in the conference showcased the resilience and expertise of Ukrainian midwives, who provide vital care under crisis conditions with limited resources," Olha shared. The experience also opened new doors for partnerships and investment in Ukraine’s healthcare sector, particularly in rural and war-impacted areas.

The Women’s Opportunity Fund continues to support women leaders like Olha as they bring their voices to the global stage, enhancing their professional skills and advancing opportunities for women in Ukraine and beyond.
