A Tribute to Golda Meir is Screened in Kyiv
The biographical film, ”Golda", directed by Guy Nattiv, premiered in Ukrainian cinemas on January 25, on the eve of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The film depicts the life of Golda Meir, the fourth Prime Minister of Israel who was born in Ukraine and stars Helen Mirren. The Ukrainian distribution company, FILM.UA Distribution, invited Project Kesher Ukraine’s (PKU) team to the pre-premiere screening on January 23 in Kyiv.
Nadiya Sadirova, a second generation Project Kesher Ukraine activist, represented PKU at the event and reported, "this film is extremely important to Ukrainians. The film’s themes are so relevant and they resonate with the current events in our countries. In Israel and Ukraine, the common enemy is terrorism. Vitali Klitschko, the Mayor of Kyiv, attended the premiere and shared plans to rename a street in Kyiv and to dedicate a city square in honor of Golda Meir.”
Nicholas Martin, the film’s screenwriter, attended the Ukrainian premiere and shared, "If Golda were in Ukraine today, she would be proud of the Ukrainians, your bravery, and everything you have achieved.”
