Mother-Daughter Program in Lviv
Last weekend, Project Kesher Ukraine hosted an intergenerational Jewish leadership program in Lviv for ten mother-daughter pairs from Jewish communities in Lviv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Shepetivka and Rivne. The program focused on strengthening family bonds, learning from experts about the safety of their daughters, and finding opportunities to develop L'dor Vador (intergenerational) programs in their communities. Participants celebrated Kabbalat Shabbat together with members of Hillel Lviv. Seminars included a conversation on puberty with a top OB/GYN, an important interactive lecture on how to recognize violence with experts from JurFem, the Ukrainian Women Lawyers Association, and a master class on self-defense with members of The Krav Maga Federation of Ukraine.
Alina Tolok (Education Program Coordinator at Hillel Lviv): "It was especially symbolic for me to lead Kabbalat Shabbat for two reasons: First, because I represent the Lviv Community and the Hillel Jewish Student Center, which is run by my mom, and second, because 10 years ago my mother and I started our journey with the Jewish community at a mother-daughter seminar organized by Project Kesher Ukraine"
Participant from Lviv: "I can't compare this seminar to any program that my daughter and I have attended before. I am amazed at how you managed to build a program designed to change each and every one of us. We are grateful to everyone who is funding this project and making it possible to implement even during the war."
Vlada Nedak (Project Kesher Ukraine Executive Director): “It was very special for me to be part of the weekend, to listen to girls and their moms, to see how differently they looked at each other as the weekend progressed and how they expressed love and support to one another in new ways."
Project Kesher Ukraine plans to organize two additional regional meetings over the summer to establish new traditions and keep generations connected.
