Electric bikes in Velyka Pysarivka

Project Kesher Ukraine’s Women’s Opportunity Fund (WOF-UA) has provided 12 electric bicycles to the small Ukrainian village of Velyka Pysarivka which is frequently subjected to Russian shelling. Every day, the social work team of the village cover long distances, braving dangerous conditions to assist the elderly and people with disabilities. Sometimes, they operate under fire in life-threatening situations. Most often, these women do not have their own cars, and there is no public transportation in the village.

With electric bicycles, social workers can reach people in need much easier and quicker. These brave women, aged 45-50, have devoted their lives to helping those who are no longer able to manage their lives independently, from completing household chores to purchasing medications. To date, WOF-UA has invested over $65,000 to purchase 65 electric bicycles for nurses, medics, and social workers across four communities in the Sumy region, as well as the communities in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine. This project now supports approximately 11,500 home visits per month.
