Stories of Impact from PKU's Women's Opportunity Fund
After the start of the war, Project Kesher Ukraine established the Women's Opportunity Fund of Ukraine, a registered charitable fund that can make grants to individuals and grassroots initiatives. We are proud to share just two examples of the incredible impact of this work:
Dr. Nataliya Lelyukh, Ukrainian OBGYN providing medical assistance in newly de-occupied territories, has been advising PKU's women's health project since 2018. Recently, she has been providing medical care in Ukrainian small towns, where humanitarian aid and clinics are not available. PKU's charitable fund was able to purchase an ultrasound machine Dr. Nataliya badly needed to continue providing services to women in need. Upon recieving the critical gift she shared, “PKU, thank you to heaven and back.”
Olena, a young woman in the PKU network, enrolled in a mental health support group subsidized by Project Kesher, after the loss of her mother left her to take care of her grandmother through war. Olena is a second year college student, studying to become a programmer, but cannot afford a computer. PKU’s charitable fund was able to provide her with a laptop and the technology she needs to finish her studies and find work support herself and her grandmother. Olena said, “Thank you to PKU for supporting my professional career and making my dreams come true.”
