End of Year Fundraiser 2023

When 2022 ended we never thought that in 2023 PK would be operating in two war zones. And yet, here we are. While the circumstances have been daunting, PK's leaders continue to persist in making life better for thousands and offering Jewish content and programming that is welcoming, meaningful and inclusive. Without you, PK could not have made it through this year. We are so appreciative of your support.

Introducing our end of year campaign. Help us raise $36,000 to provide emergency wartime support to Ukrainian and Israeli women and girls.

In 2023, Project Kesher Ukraine (PKU) communicated daily with trusted partners to meet the country’s most urgent needs, including:

  • Food;

  • Clean water;

  • Medical and hygiene kits;

  • Menstrual cups;

  • Generators;

  • Hospital equipment;

  • Electric bicycles for nurses to visit homebound patients (pictured below); and

  • Grants to women-owned small businesses.

In addition to the items purchased, PKU and its humanitarian arm, The Women's Opportunity Fund, continuously provide information through Telegram, email, texts and social media in response to women’s needs and anticipated needs. In addition, PKU held multiple Jewish intergenerational leadership programs for displaced mother-daughter pairs, a weekend retreat celebrating Judaism in Ukraine, and embarked on the enormous undertaking of advancing a first-of-its-kind Ukrainian-language Haggadah, as reported by Public Radio International.

The needs remain strong in Ukraine and now the needs in Israel are pressing as well. With the collapse of the government infrastructure providing services and mass layoffs impacting refugees and immigrants who were holding menial jobs, poverty has turned into desperation. Project Kesher Israel (PKI) has been delivering:

  • Food parcels for women, children, and the elderly;

  • Gift cards for warm clothing or hygiene supplies;

  • First aid kits for minor injuries in the rush to bomb shelters; and

  • Mental health support for women and children in Russian.

These efforts were recently spotlighted in an in-depth Associated Press feature story that has been syndicated by news outlets worldwide. Moreover, in 2023, PKI officially made advocacy and activities for Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ immigrants and refugees, a signature program, helping members of the community integrate into Israeli society, obtain government benefits, and get food, vouchers and mental health support. With Russia making it more and more oppressive to be an LGBTQ person, seeking out and threatening imprisonment of community members, we anticipate continued growth of this PKI community.

This holiday season, help us raise $36,000 to provide emergency wartime support.
