Jewish Education and Holiday Celebrations

Despite ongoing lockdown and pandemic-related limitations, Project Kesher has supported virtual and outdoor Jewish holiday celebrations for over 6,000 families directly in the last year. Jewish holiday programming reached over 15,000 people through social media and streaming. Our global network has a growing online following, including thousands of active social media users and reaching over 1,000,000 people online. A pluralist and activist approach allows PK-trained leaders to reach families far beyond the established Jewish community.

Jewish holiday celebrations and packages mean the world to families isolated and homebound. With each holiday that passed, PK-trained leaders took the opportunity to reach out to new families and find new ways to connect. For example, when a Matzah shortage hit Belarus over Passover, two PK-trained activists led a program to teach others how to make their own Matzah at home. The “How to Make Matzah at Home” video has more than 450 views. In a country that is experiencing another wave of COVID-19 without access to vaccines and continued political unrest, 250 women celebrated Passover at home this year with Project Kesher Belarus.

TESTIMONIALS

Tatiana from Ufa shared: “I thank all the organizers and all the participants! To be able to celebrate virtually together is simply incredible! I celebrated Pesach alone at home because of the pandemic, but my Project Kesher sisters provided me with strength and confidence in knowing that I am not alone, that we are together, and that we will overcome these difficult times!”

Elena from Samara: "On the first day of Hanukkah, the girls from PK youth club gathered to light the first candle and talk about Jewish feminists! The club was created recently as a result of the work of PK activists, and now the girls are studying Jewish tradition. It has had such a powerful impact.
