Shabbat Retreat in Minsk
On the weekend of August 12th, 10 pairs of mothers and daughters from 6 cities across Belarus (Minsk, Gomel, Brest, Grodno, Mogilev, and Lida) spent three days together with Project Kesher Belarus, celebrating Shabbat and building connection and community. Participants deepened their knowledge of Jewish history, and studied the psychology of family relationships and conflict resolution, learning more about their own mother/daughter relationships. They shared meals, sang songs, and worked on strengthening their communication with one another.
“I learned a lot about my daughter on this trip, and found a fresh perspective on problems we’ve had that I previously considered unsolvable. Thank you, Project Kesher Belarus, for bringing us closer.”
“Discussing and celebrating Jewish traditions together gave me such a strong sense of unity. It inspired me to want to be more active in the Jewish community, and to help preserve Jewish culture and history.”
“I will always remember this retreat as a turning point for my mother and me. I finally feel like we understand each other and have learned to see eye to eye.”
