Strengthening Jewish Life

FOLLOWING THE RUSSIAN INVASION, JEWISH LIFE HAS BECOME A VITAL SOURCE OF SUPPORT AND STABILITY FOR MANY JEWS IN UKRAINE.

Project Kesher helps individuals and families establish deeper and more meaningful connections to their Jewish heritage, re-establishing cherished traditions and providing emotional refuge from the war.

For example, Project Kesher has spearheaded efforts to translate the country’s overwhelmingly Russian-language Jewish texts into Ukrainian, allowing Jews to honor their national heritage while celebrating their religion and culture.

To date, the organization has translated:

11 prayers

collections of blessings

for the major Jewish holidays

Services for Shabbat and Havdalah

It also embarked on the enormous undertaking of advancing a first-of-its-kind Ukrainian-language Haggadah,

which tells the Passover story through the eyes of Ukrainians fighting to live in a free, democratic and safe society.

Released digitally in time for the 2023 Passover holiday, the Project Kesher Haggadah was downloaded 430 times and viewed over 2,300 times. Uploaded to Haggadot.com, it was listed among the most popular and heavily downloaded items of the season.

The Haggadah was also featured in more than 50 global news outlets, including Public Radio International. Its launch marked the first time Ukrainian media spotlighted a purely Jewish topic. Within Ukraine, the story reached approximately 20% of the country’s residents.

The Haggadah remains available for download and print in full or by chapter. Accompanying music can be accessed via YouTube and Soundcloud.
