E-Bikes Deliver Hope in War-Torn Zaporizhzhia

On the frontline city of Zaporizhzhia, the “Family Doctor” clinic continues to serve its community despite relentless artillery attacks. Providing care for approximately 150,000 residents across three local communities and the entire right bank of the city, the clinic has seen a sharp increase in patient visits. With over 9,000 internally displaced persons now registered, the need for rapid, flexible outreach has never been greater. Electric bicycles have become a vital tool, allowing medical professionals to travel twice as fast—even across rough terrain—to deliver life-saving supplies and care.

This initiative is part of a broader effort supported by WOF-UA, which empowers women who risk their lives daily to help others. The project operates across nine regions of Ukraine, including areas as close as five kilometers from active combat. As a result, home visits have increased by 1.5 to 2 times, ensuring that more people receive timely medical assistance despite the ongoing war.
