LGBTQ Aliyah and Resilience: PKI Hosts Inspiring Community Event

Last Thursday, PKI’s LGBTQ Support Program, in partnership with ANU Museum and the Nadav Foundation, hosted a powerful event for nearly 100 participants from the recent waves of LGBTQ aliyah and forced emigration from Ukraine and Russia.

The evening included guided tours of exhibitions highlighting feminist and LGBTQ perspectives, followed by a panel moderated by Rabbi Olya Weinstein. Speakers included Anna Talisman, MSW (PKI LGBTQ Program Head), Roman Kogan (Nadav Foundation), and a representative from the newest wave of aliyah who recently fled Russia. The discussion explored personal stories of LGBTQ aliyah, identity under threat, integration in Israel, and the future of Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking LGBTQ communities.

Participants highlighted PKI’s ongoing support through local groups, leadership programs, and safe spaces, emphasizing how vital these initiatives are during the post-immigration adjustment period.
