PKI Launches Collaboration with the Israeli Police to Support LGBTQ+ Community

Project Kesher Israel (PKI) has launched a new partnership with the Israeli Police, building on the success of its earlier cooperation with the LGBTQ+-inclusive social work service of Clalit Health Services.

The collaboration began in the Tel Aviv District, where PKI organized meetings and group discussions with the regional LGBTQ+ community liaison officers. These encounters helped participants who had experienced homophobic violence feel safer approaching law enforcement, fostering greater trust between the community and the police.

Following national roundtables with the Ministry for Social Equality, the initiative expanded to include police representatives from all districts. PKI also joined a national inter-organizational network for direct case referrals — already resulting in the first successfully resolved workplace assault case in Haifa.
