Last night in Kyiv, a Russian drone attack damaged the Great Choral Synagogue in the Podil district, injuring four people and causing significant damage to the building. Those who have travelled to Kyiv with Project Kesher have likely visited this synagogue.

The synagogue-- a living symbol of Jewish life in Kyiv since before WWII-- survived Nazi occupation and decades of repression. After years of restoration in the 1990s and 2000s, it reopened to the public as a beacon for Kyiv’s Jewish community in 2003. Mere hours ago, the synagogue’s windows and roof were shattered, books thrown from shelves, and treasured stained glass destroyed.

Project Kesher stands with the Jewish community of Kyiv, united in grief, faith, and resilience.
