Compassionate SMS Communications

Project Kesher Ukraine, in partnership with Footage Foundation, Verb, and The Mara Partners, developed and funded a gender-responsive SMS communications network FemSMS to share compassionate, trauma-informed SMS messages on women’s well-being, mental health, and safety. Texts have been sent to almost 700 women across the region, followed by surveys and interviews. Findings indicate over 79% of those surveyed remembered feeling “Supported” when they read messages from FemSMS. Many also reported feeling informed, cared for, calm, hopeful, and empowered. By disseminating this sensitive, value-added trauma support, PK is creating a sense of resilience and protection around those at risk.
