Standing With Our Community in a Time of Fear
As Israel continues to face a barrage of daily attacks, PKI coordinators are working tirelessly to maintain communication with our group participants — answering messages and calls, meeting on Zoom, and ensuring that no one feels alone.
Following a recent explosion in Be’er Sheva, several women in our network reported shattered doors and windows, and some even experienced partial hearing loss from the blast. We immediately connected them with available medical care. At the same time, many in our community are suffering from panic attacks and acute stress, while Israel’s healthcare system remains overloaded. Thanks to trusted professionals within our network, we are providing critical psychological support — but the need continues to grow.
Nearly 37% of Israelis lack access to a protected safe room in their homes. Among Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking immigrants and refugees, the number is significantly higher. Many are spending long hours in public shelters as sirens persist. Parents are caring for children who are home without educational tools and frameworks, all while coping with their own fear and uncertainty.
Families whose buildings were damaged have been relocated to hotels without personal belongings, where PKI is offering therapeutic support and practical assistance. Each day, PKI is also hosting multiple online sessions providing emotional support, reliable information, and meaningful learning — spaces that bring comfort, connection, and strength in an unstable time.
