Providing a Hopeful Start for Ukrainian Children Returning to School

Project Kesher’s Women’s Opportunity Fund (WOF-UA)  proudly joined the “Backpack for Life” campaign, providing backpacks and school supplies to 457 children from 29 cities and towns across Ukraine, including those in frontline regions. With the generous support of additional partners like the Beri Foundation, Hillel Kyiv and Christians for Israel, the campaign is giving Ukrainian children and their parents a renewed sense of hope and confidence as the school year begins. 

Such hope is essential for Ukraine as the war intensifies. Already there’s been a need to move schools underground to keep children and educators safe from Russia’s onslaught.  Officials in Kharkiv have established schools in six subway stations. There and in other cities, plans are underway to open more underground schools in the immediate future.
