project kesher annual benefitHonoring Nancy Solomon and Temple Beth El of Helena Arkansas Thursday, April 7, 2011 |
As a change-maker and someone who makes connections that count, Nancy introduced us to Temple Beth El, the spiritual home of the Solomon family. Founded in 1867, this Reform Congregation flourished and then declined as the economics and demographics of the rural South changed over the last one hundred and fifty years. When the Congregation decided to close its doors, it donated two Torah Scrolls to Project Kesher.
In 2004 and 2010, Nancy traveled overseas to present the Torah Scrolls to the communities of Vinnitsa, Ukraine and Balakovo, Russia. We honor the extraordinary commitment Nancy has made to our work, alongside Temple Beth-El, a community so very far from our partner countries yet sharing a common heritage and the gift of Torah.
